Comments This guide takes into consideration median base
salaries and does not include items such as benefits, accommodation, automobile, incentives,
gratuities, bonuses, etc.
As in last year's survey, due to the recession in Canada several years ago and few career
opportunities, many Canadian middle and senior managers left the country. This brought to light the lack
of experienced staff available in Canada and drove up salaries drastically. The last quarter of
2001 did not see a solution to this problem even with the slowing of business, caution and
uncertainty has temporarily quieted the rampant increase in salaries that were experienced in 2000.
The industry will play catch-up in 2003.
