* In £ Sterling. Fully taxed.
+ Minimum 2 restaurants and banquet, full to 200 plus.
++ Many new hires, very active position.
Salaries in the survey are median. They are therefore middle-ranged as opposed to average, which
is the mid-point between extremes.
These are the salaries being paid to current employees, many of whom have long-term tenure in
their positions. Highest-paid single unit hotelier polled was earning £175,000 plus considerable
"out of ordinary" benefits.

Comments The UK continues to dominate the European scene in
salaries due to the strong pound. This is partially due to the high cost of living in the UK
especially in London where "you can never make enough".
Opportunities in the UK are not as buoyant as last year, except in culinary and middle management.
General Manager opportunities in large 4 to 5 star hotels are scarce especially in London. Sales
and Marketing positions are always available if you are experienced and want to move to a competitor.
