* Also VP title but directly supervises only one hotel.
** Corporate responsibility as well.
+ No. 2 in command of the hotel
++ Sometimes the term is Executive Assistant Manager - F&B, and the position is No. 2 in the
hotel due to the size of the property; in which case the food and beverage director's salary
as described may be increased 10% to 15% to compensate for a senior title.

Comments In the Far East most full-service deluxe hotels are
larger than anywhere else in the world. The trend here, even in three- and four- star hotels, is
toward hotels in excess of 400 rooms. budget and suite hotel groups are developing quickly.
Expatriates salary survey only.
These salary scales are for Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, and Indonesia. For Hong Kong People's
Republic of China and Taiwan add 10%.
We expect for the next four years that Asia and especially in China will become a "buyer not a seller".
With the Olympics coming to China, this will fuel the need for expatriates, especially Chinese speakers.
China has always favoured Chinese speakers but the demand has been greater over the last 12 months
and should increase as we come closer to the Olympics.
The business in Asia has flattened but the need for professionals has not. Where hotels over the last three years
have thought that they could maintain a standard solely with local staff, they have learned that this is not
possible. Therefore, the need for expatriates has resurfaced but at 2001 salary ranges which is lower than
1997-1998 high.
