Executive Chef for Upscale Restaurant in Nova Scotia We currently have a fantastic opportunity in Nova Scotia to become the Executive Chef of an established and well-known upscale restaurant. In this role, you will report directly to, and work with closely with the Owner and the Restaurant General Manager in implementing and achieving the culinary and financial objectives for this popular establishment. You will be responsible for coordinating, supervising and directing Kitchen operations, while maintaining the highest levels of service and food standards. You will be required to market ideas to promote business, reduce employee turnover, maintain revenue and payroll budgets, and meet budgeted productivity while keeping quality consistently high. Your recruitment efforts must reflect the vision for the Kitchen; you will continuously train, develop and lead an incredible team who will be motivated by your inspirational leadership and who understand the crucial role they all play in the overall success of the business. Main Responsibilities: Maintain a positive attitude, and take ownership and responsibility of all aspects of your teams work Provide strong leadership, communication skills, customer orientation, initiative and teamwork Responsible for the managing, training and recruiting of all kitchen staff. Building on a strong company culture and team bond Maintain the highest level of quality and service standards Grow the reputation of the restaurant and culinary vision Update menus regularly and create new, unique and interesting offerings Liaise with all 3rd party partners to ensure smooth relationship and partners Maintain budgets and cost throughout all of the F&B operations Be aware of the required food cost percentages as per budget and monitor the department to operate within these guidelines at all times. Control wastage and over-production of food Ensure all staff within your team are well aware of their responsibilities and the expectations of them. Provide constant supervision, support and motivation in all aspects of their work. Experience Requirements Canadian Residency or Citizenship Minimum of 3 years in a high-end, upscale restaurant in an Executive Chef position Previous experience in a fine-dining Italian Restaurant Proven track record in leading the operations of a busy stand-alone restaurant and creating a culinary destination Proven track record of managing the kitchen of a $8 to $10 million/year establishment Must be Innovative in creating new dishes. Knowledge of modern cuisine will be an asset Ability to collaborate and amend direction as needed.
